In the picturesque village of Giethoorn you will find the museum “De Oude Aarde”, since 1969 it hase been home to one of Holland’s most beautiful collections of minerals and fossils. Connected to the museum is the Rockshop with an extensive selection of jewellery and other items made of precious stones. The mammoth ivory showroom is situated on the first floor of the Rockshop. We are open to the public most of the year. We like to be of good assistance and would appreciate it if you could let us know of your visit in advance. |

March 1st to November 1st 7 days
a week from 10.00 - 18.00.
November 1st to 1st of March:
Wednesday to Sunday, 10.00 - 17.00.
The showroom is closed December 25th.
Any season you will find Giethoorn presenting itself in all its’ beauty. In the summertime you can explore the village and its natural park by boat, in the winter ice-skate past frozen fields of reed. There is no better idea than to combine your visit to museum ‘De Oude Aarde’ with a trip through the antique village Giethoorn.
